"Solicitors in our Neighborhood
We have had a rash of solicitors in our neighborhood. Your Board is working to put more "teeth" in our No Soliciting signs. Meanwhile, each resident can help!
From Florida Statutes:
"(1)(a) It is unlawful for any person to conduct any home solicitation sale, as defined in s. 501.021, or to supervise excluded minors conducting such sales provided in subparagraph (b)5., in this state without first obtaining a valid home solicitation sale permit..."
"(8) Every permit holder shall carry the permit and certificate required by this section at all times while engaged in home solicitation sales and shall display the same to all prospective buyers before initiating the solicitation of a sale, lease, or rental."

From Santa Rosa County Ordinances:
"(a) It shall be unlawful for any person to engage in solicitation or canvassing activities in, of or
upon any private structures, property, residences, establishments or premises within the
unincorporated area of the county without first obtaining a permit from the county. ..." (Ord. No. 2002-27, § 3, 11-14-02)
Also, even if they are permitted you can ask them to leave your property:
"Any person issued a permit to solicit or canvass in accordance with this article shall upon
request of any owner or occupant immediately leave the residence or place of business of such owner
or occupant."
(Ord. No. 2002-27, § 12, 11-14-02)

ASK TO SEE THEIR PERSONAL PERMIT. IF THEY DON'T HAVE ONE, ASK THEM TO LEAVE OUR NEIGHBORHOOD AND YOU CAN REPORT THEM TO THE SHERIFF'S OFFICE.
The responsibility for the safety of our neighborhood is in our hands.
